Along with James and John, he was part of Jesus\u2019 inner circle and was present at key moments, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the time when Jesus revealed his divine nature<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane before his arrest<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>various miracles, and important teachings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, he was the first to recognise Jesus as the Messiah, marking an important milestone within the group of disciples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-25b6135d\"><h3 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">A moment of doubt and faith<\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most defining moments of his life occurs when he walks on water towards Jesus, but begins to sink as soon as he doubts himself. This moment perfectly symbolises his character: he is impulsive and brave, yet also vulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">The most powerful episode occurs during Christ\u2019s Passion, when Peter <strong>denies Jesus three times<\/strong> out of fear. However, he repents deeply after this event, marking a turning point in his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following Jesus' ascension into heaven, Saint Peter assumed a leading role among the apostles. He represents the origin of a line of leadership that continues to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Furthermore, he is recognised as the <strong>patron saint of Rome<\/strong>, which further reinforces his religious and historical importance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-ef806460\"><h2 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">\ud83c\udf86 The Feast of Saint Peter in Cusco<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">In the city of Cusco, devotion to Saint Peter is particularly strong in the historic centre, especially around the <strong>Church of Saint Peter<\/strong>, one of the city\u2019s most important colonial churches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Located just a few minutes from the Plaza de Armas, this 17th-century church is part of Cusco\u2019s historical heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\"><strong>On 29 June<\/strong>, the festivities centre around this church, where masses and religious ceremonies are held in honour of the saint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While not one of Cusco\u2019s largest festivals, the San Pedro celebrations are still very significant.
